January Ulta Haul

Hi guys!

Today I'm sharing the smallest Ulta haul, I received the 20% off coupon from Ulta last week and I needed to pick up a few things so I made a trip to the store.  Everyone and their mother has been raving about the Too Faced "Better Than Sex" mascara so I figured I'd give it a try.  I haven't been using my favorite top coat; Seche Vite because of the harmful ingredients inside but I missed it and so I picked up a new bottle.  On YouTube MakeupbyTiffanyd is always raving about the CND Stickey Base coat and I always use the OPI Nail Envy so I wanted to take this one for a spin, I'll let you know if I'm loving it in an upcoming nail post.  And last but not least I picked up another OPI polish from the Gwen Stefani collection, I already have the "Over and Over A-Gwen" which is a rich red but I've wanted the creme pink from the line: "Hey Baby". Hope you've enjoyed my haul, hope to post more soon!

L'Oreal Nude Ballet vs Maybelline Nude Illusion

Over the weekend I made a trip to CVS in search of 2 new nude lippies and to my shock, both were in stock! The 2 I was hoping to pick up were L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinare in "Nude Ballet" & Maybelline Colour Elixir in "Nude Illusion", whenever I try to find the Maybelline version it's sold out so it must be good! After buying these and swatching them I really see how similar they are but I'm glad I have both, they seem to be different formulas but in the same shade so I hope to enjoy them both for a while!

Nail of the Day Essie "Bobbing for Baubles"

I picked up this beauty in the same order as "Island Hopping" and have to say that I enjoy it just as much.  I strayed away from Essie for a while because I had so many and the recent collections weren't speaking to me but lately I've gone back to them and it's made all the difference.  I've noticed my mani's lasting longer, richer colors, and just overall better looking nail looks.  This polish is a deep, rich, slightly-lighter navy blue and it applies darker than in the bottle as you can see from the picture.  I had no problem removing it and loved how easy it was to apply in just 2 coats.  I usually have issues with dark polishes ad keeping my nail beds clean but this was a gem and I can't wait to wear it again!  This is a much lighter more cloudy blue than "After School Boy Blazer" and "No More Film" has more purple tones in it. Enjoy!

Top 13 of 2013!

Hello everyone!

I've got something different and new to share with you today; my top 13 beauty products of 2013!  These are the products that I couldn't get enough of and reached for the most over the past year.  I was so excited to do this post because it made me sit down and think about which products I love and why I loved them.  I think I have a pretty good mix of makeup, skincare, tools , & hair products; I will include links to everything below, hope that you enjoy!

Although Nars blush in Sin was a 2012 purchase it was a rediscovered favorite and the item I grabbed most for my cheeks.  I've used Bare Minerals since 2007 but lost my interest with it over the past few years and tried new things, this year I re-fell in love with this and I don't see myself changing anytime soon.  I've been using the Benefit facial cream a lot over the past year at night, it's the perfect moisturizer for my super dry skin.
My hair favorite for the year has been the Paul Mitchell Skinny serum, I just love how this prolongs the wear of a hairstyle for me and actually makes my hair look decent.  The Real Techniques Stippling brush is phenomenal for applying cream blush to the cheeks.  My favorite brush for blending is the Mac 217, it has completely changed my eye routine and look for the best and I can honestly say that I see why everyone loves it.
I tried a lot of new mascaras this year as I am a serial mascara changer but this one stole my heart, the Maybelline big eyes mascara, it just gives me the most natural looking long and voluminous lashes.  I stuck with my Nars Smudge Proof eye base over the year, this is an absolute must for anyone with oily eyelids and just makes my eyeshadow last throughout the day beautifully.  I discovered Mac Soft Brown this year and I used it with every eyeshadow I own as the perfect crease color and I'm just overall in love with it, it's perfect.
Let me start by saying that I am not the biggest lip product fan, I'm just getting into the world of "lips".  I picked up a new lipstick this year and fell in love with it, it's just the creamiest, smoothest, perfect shade I've ever seen and it's the Sonia Kashuk Shine Luxe Sheer Lip Color in "Sheer Pink Lust". In the later part of the year I thought I'd give the new Baby Lips Dr. Rescue in "Coral Crave" a try and this is my holy grail lip treatment, I actually just had to replace it and I felt so lost without it for a few weeks.  Around the holidays I found my favorite lip product of the year; the Maybelline Color Elixir's, I was literally so obsessed with these that I bought 5 in 1 month! In my defense, I got them all on sale but I absolutely adore these and I recently picked up a 6th; Nude Illusion.

Last but not least, I fell head over heals in love with a polish brand this year and that would be Zoya.  Their formula is amazing and it has the staying power to match, I can't see myself loving any other brand as much as them.  The shade choice is phenomenal and they are Big5Free as well.  The star of my eye this year were the Pixie Dust collections, I love how easy they are to apply and how gorgeous they look on my nails, I've done a few posts on them throughout the year.

I hope you've enjoyed my favorites and I'd love to know your favorites so that I can add them to my list and hopefully have a just as amazing 2014 in beauty!

Nail of the Day Essie "Island Hopping" & Revlon "Girly"

Happy Sunday!

Today's Nail of the Day is Essie's "Island Hopping", I added this one to my list after watching one of TheStyleDiet's videos where she mentioned it.  I am a huge fan of dusty purples so this was perfect for me, I actually purchased it on Amazon along with "Bobbing for Baubles".  This polish was a lighter in color than I expected but as usual with Essie, it applied great in 2 coats.  The shade is a deeper and more mauve version of "In Stitches" and is very close to Butter London's "Toff".  I wore it by itself for a day and then added Revlon's "Girly" to it for a bit of sparkle. Enjoy!

Flower Cosmetics Swatch & Review

Welcome to a very special hump day post, I've wanted to try the new Flower Cosmetics line since it came out last year.  I've already picked up a few of the nail polishes (which I enjoy) but  never any of the actual makeup products.  I've had my eye on an eyeshadow quad, creme eyeshadow, & blush bronzer duo but never have taken the plunge.  Most of the items from this line are a bit pricey for drugstore (Walmart) and I wanted to make sure they were worth it so I've watched quite a few videos and read a few swatch posts online.  Every time I visited my Walmart the display looked hideous because of other careless customers but this week it looked neat and in order so I picked up 2 things from my "wants list".  I grabbed the Shadow Play Eye Shadow Quad in "Foxy Browns" and Color Play Creme Eyeshadow in "Wild Geranium", I've only worn these once and together at that but they lasted all day and I really love how pigmented and neutral they looked on me.  I will say that the creme shadow can be a bit messy as are most cremes and the quad was a bit powdery bu I still enjoy both of these products and hope to try out more in the future!

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Collection

Happy Monday!

I've got swatches of my newest eye shadow purchase for you!  I fell in love with this palette way before it was even available, back when Too Faced was giving hints of it's release. I'm a big fan of the too faced palettes; with the Natural Eye & Boudoir Eyes being 2 of my my most used and favorite palettes to use.  The quality if great on their eye shadows; just the smoothest and buttery that I've ever used.  This palette was no different other than the amazing chocolate smell and who doesn't want to enjoy the lovely smell of chocolate when applying their eye shadow? The packaging is the cutest and I can't wait to dig in and really get some use out of the palette, it's perfect for all seasons and I can see myself traveling with this one. Enjoy!

Zoya Magical Pixie Collection

Happy Monday friends!

This Spring Zoya has something truly Magical planned for us! They've created a brand new collection for Spring called the Magical Pixie collection and they are gorgeous!  This collection consists of 3 holographic textured matte magical shades named: Cosmo, Vega, & Lux.  I'm huge fan of pinks so Lux is calling my name but each of these would make great additions to anyone's collection. The pixie dusts have always been good to me and are a favorite because of their application, dry time, staying power, & of course beautiful appearance.  I can't wait to get my fingers on this collection and try them out, I'll have pictures and swatches once I receive them! :)

They will be available in February for $10/each from Zoya.com.

Asking for your help.

Hi guys,

Hope everyone is having an amazing New Year and that you are enjoying the posts I've shared with you.  Today I'm sharing a totally different type of post and to be honest it's a little uncomfortable for me. Over the past 4 days I've spent almost all of my time at veterinarian and veterinarian specialist offices, having tests, x-rays, & ultrasounds done on my Pup.  Over the weekend my 8 year old mini schnauzer Bailey came down with illness, he wasn't eating and had no energy which is totally out of character for him.  On Monday I took him into the vet's office and they told me he was dehydrated and needed fluids, blood tests, & to spend the day with them.  I received a call around lunch that just made me feel indescribably numb; the doctor explained that what he thought was Bailey's full bladder was really a grapefruit sized tumor.  Now he is only a 22lb dog and 20 inch long dog so you can imagine just how big this was for the doctor to mistake it for his bladder. At first I was in shock and began to cry and couldn't seem to find my breath, I was actually in the pick up line for school to pick up my 4 year old from preschool.  He obviously doesn't understand what is happening so that is a good thing but he wants to know what is wrong with Mommy and why I've been crying for the past few days.  Yesterday we took Bailey in to see a Veterinarian Internal Specialist and have an Ultrasound to see if there are multiple tumors and if anything had spread.  The Internist called us around 4 and let us know that Bailey has not only a large tumor at the back of his spleen but also in the front part of spleen, as well as a stone in his bladder.  Once again I went into a numb state but managed to ask the questions I wanted to know, such as what do we do, what is the prognosis, and what can we expect after? The Dr says we can have surgery to remove the tumors and stone which will buy us more time since he is a healthy 8 year old Pup otherwise and that no other organs have been effected by this.  The surgery is Friday and will cost somewhere around $3500, in addition to the Ultrasounds, x-rays, and blood tests that have already been done and the initial vet visit.  I'm humbly asking for you help, as I am a stay at home Mom with our 4 year old; we simply can't afford the surgery with the surgeon's office not having any payment plans available and would appreciate any assistance that you could give.  I included a link to the site we created as well as pics of our sweet boy so that you can donate if you'd like, Thanks for reading our story & thanks for your help. :)

Zoya Awaken Collection

Hi guys!

Happy Wednesday! Hope you've all been well, I'm sharing previews of the new Zoya collection for Spring 2014.  It's called the Awaken collection and I'm pretty excited about it, the blue/teal colors look perfect and that Radiant Orchid (the Pantone shade of the year) is gorgeous! The 3 shades I'm most excited to add to my collection are: Dillon, Rebel, and Hudson but I'm really excited about all 6 of them. I'm a huge fan of Zoya's formula for their wear, application, and dry time so I know that these won't disappoint! This collection also includes a beautiful, multi-colored, confetti pink-based glitter that I can't wait to get my hands on. Which shade are you most excited to try out?
